Director of Bands, Burnet CISD
Joseph Cox is beginning his 9th year in Burnet CISD where he was previously the percussion instructor for 7 years. His previous teaching engagements include 4 years at Mabank ISD and 10 years at Waller ISD. Mr. Cox is in his 23rd year of teaching. He is a proud Burnet High School graduate - class of '97. His undergraduate degree is in music education from Howard Payne University '01. He also has a Master's degree in educational administration from Lamar University '10.
Mr. Cox lives outside of Burnet with his wife Cindy, daughter Mary Ainsley, son Kaden, and two dogs. When not teaching, Mr. Cox enjoys hunting, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and building his house.
Band Director Burnet High School and Marching Band Coordinator
Mr. Picht currently resides in the Austin, Texas area. He is a proud alumni of the University of North Texas, where he was a member of the trumpet studio studying with Dr. Raquel Samayoa. While at UNT he was an active member of ensembles, performing under the batons of David Childs, and Nicholas Williams. While in college, Jacob was an active educator in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex where he was a marching band technician for Lake Dallas High School, Marcus High School, and the University of North Texas Green Brigade.
Throughout his time at UNT, Jacob was also an active participant in Drum Corps International, and was a member of the Troopers (2018, 2019), the Blue Knights (2020), and aging out with Carolina Crown (2021). He served on the brass staff for the Troopers (2022) and currently serves on the brass faculty of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps.
Head Band Director Burnet Middle School
He was previously at Llano High School and Middle School for 4 years and is excited to be joining the Bulldog Band Program for his 5th year of teaching. Marcos attended Texas Lutheran University and graduated with his Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 2017.
Marcos lives in Burnet with his wife, Kirsti, and their three dogs and two cats. He enjoys playing video games, traveling, and spending time with friends when he is not teaching.
Band Director Burnet Middle School
Brad Jones is in his fourth year of teaching at Burnet Middle School. He has previously taught at McCowan Middle School in DeSoto ISD, Rice High School and Middle School, and Life School in Red Oak, TX. He earned his bachelor degree from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA, and his masters from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.
Mr. Jones lives in Burnet with his wife Rachel, and daughter Lauren, who is drumline captain of the Burnet Esprit de Corps. He also has a daughter attending Abilene Christian University studying Digital Entertainment Technology. When he is not teaching, Mr. Jones enjoys waterskiing and wakeboarding, and has recently begun playing disc golf.
Percussion Director
Burnet High School & Burnet Middle School
Michael joined the staff at Burnet High School as the Director of Percussion in 2023 to begin his 6th year of teaching percussion. Before coming to Burnet, he had taught in Frisco ISD as the assistant percussion director at Panther Creek High School and for two years as a percussion clinician at various schools in Houston, TX.
Michael is originally from Atlanta, GA where he received his degree in percussion performance from Kennesaw State University and began his teaching career as the Director of Percussion at Wheeler High School and East Cobb Middle School.
Outside of teaching high school and middle school percussion, Michael has been involved with DCI and WGI for a decade as either a performer or educator. Most Recently, Michael has taught the front ensemble at Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps, and Rhythmic Force Indoor Percussion.
Highlandette Drill Team and EDC Dance Team Director
Burnet High School
Caity has been director of the Burnet High School Highlandettes Dance Team since 2008. Caity began participating in dance classes at the age of 2 and continued her studio training until she graduated high school. She is a Burnet High School graduate and was member of the Highlandettes under the direction of her mother, Deidra Robertson. She had the honor to serve as an officer her junior and senior years. Caity attended Kilgore College where she was a member of the 65th line of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Dance Education.
Caity had the opportunity to perform in events at the Dallas Cowboy Halftime Show, Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame, AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic in Dallas, Carnival Cruise Line featured performances, and the Texas State Society Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball and Parade in Washington DC.
Caity has been happily married to her husband Tres since 2011.
They have two beautiful daughters and a sweet boy.
